Membrane surface modifications and membrane testing

Equipment/facility: lab

    Description

In this lab we are studying membranes for nanofiltration, reverse-osmosis and ultra-filtration processes, developing efficient and non-fouling water treatment membranes with improved surface properties, selectivity, and solute transport. Furthermore, surface modification technologies enable us investigation of scaling phenomena in water treatment processes, the mutual interactions between organic matter and scaling, and effects of organic functional groups on fouling.

    Equipment (significant):
Reverse osmosis (RO), nanofiltration (NF) and ultrafiltration testing systems (dead-end and crossflow)
    Analytical HPLC (Surveyor, Thermo)
