Description
We study the reasons why people, and especially children, do what they do and feel what they feel. In everyday life, people experience emotions and pursue goals and values, directing them towards desirable behaviors. However, these emotions, goals and values do not always translate into goal-directed behavior, and more importantly, to experiences of personal thriving and growth. Therefore, we study the motivational and emotional processes that allow people to achieve their goals and behave according to their values. Our research focuses on the ways in which educational environments can promote optimal internalization of goals and values, so these are reflected in optimal behavior and growth experiences.
