Research interests
Galia Plotkin Amrami is a senior lecturer in the Department of Education, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Her research focuses on the therapeutic discourse in the areas of education, migration and resilience building, from anthropological and historical perspectives. Dr. Plotkin Amrami explores interactions between professional discourse, cultural narratives, national ethos and religion, and also social factors influencing the appearance of new categories of mental disorders. Her current research deals with the interactions between medicalization of education, stigma, and subjectivity within school and family settings.
