Personal profile

Research interests

In collaboration with colleagues from the Health Sciences Faculty, I am investigating the long-term  effects of neurotoxic levels of glutamate following brain injury on the development of depression, anxiety, social behaviour changes, such as submissive or aggressive behaviour in rat models of brain trauma. Novel methods of altering  the balance between brain and blood glucose after injury  are  potential prevention strategies tested in rats in order to minimize  the development of post-injury psychiatric pathologies.
