Abstract in Lay TermsThe distributed constraint optimization problem (DCOP) model is an abstractway of modeling problems where multiple entities (humans, robots, computer pro-grams) need to coordinate together to perform some task. Examples include disasterrescue scenarios, where various rst responders need to coordinate with each other tosave lives. However, the existing model and techniques are unsuitable to scenarios inwhich communication is limited. In this research, we are proposing a new model andnew techniques that explicitly take into account the likelihood that message will belost or delayed. When messages are delayed, execution time is longer. When messagesare lost, existing algorithms may not be correct or not complete their execution. Weaim at designing algorithms that are robust towards communication scenarios, whichinclude message delays and message losses. Thus, through the proposed research, wewill build the foundations for a general communication aware DCOP model, whichwill spur deployment of DCOP algorithms in the real world.
