The Refund to Savings Initiative

Project Details

Description

Michal Grinstein-Weiss and Daniel Ariely will evaluate whether low-income individuals can be induced to increase their saving through relatively simple and easy-to-implement interventions made available during the tax-filinng process. They will undertake a series of experimental evaluations to test a number of “nudges” that behavioral economists believe could lead individuals to save more of their tax refunds. The project’s findings will appear in a series of reports and papers.
