Abstract

This paper refers to the phenomenon of crying at certain situations in the football game, such as winning the league’s championship, or demoting to a lower league. For many years expressing emotions by crying was not done in the stadium. Not by the players nor by the supporters. Success and failure were relatively restrained by the above. In recent decades thingshave changed and one can see players and supporters cry publicly in cases of winning and losing. Probably this change in behavior at the football arena is related -influenced by what has is happened in the social-cultural surrounding: the: The macho skin is getting thinner—crying in public is not just for women.The story of this paper- a case study—refers to crying in the game of the Israeli club- Hapoel Beer Sheva. In this game the meaning of the result was either or: if the local (Hapoel Beer Sheva) team wins the game, the club remains in the first division, provided that another club that played at the same time in another stadium loses. The other club won and Hapoel BeerSheva was demoted. The fans stood silently while tears streaming down their faces. The silence was disturbed by a young boy crying loudly, his hands covering his face: he cried for everybody
