Abstract
John Huehnergard's recent work furnishes a significant contribution to the understanding of such material in a clear and scholarly fashion. The author collates and emends words especially in dealing with the polyglot vocabulary texts. It is important to stress that many of these readings can be disputed; therefore, this grammatical analysis of the data may not give a complete or true picture of Ugaritic, as the author tries to do. Such a new work is also tested by its understanding of and attention to detail. Therefore, this review offers both general remarks and specific comments in order to contribute to a better understanding of these important findings.
