The first part of Birkat Geulah after the recitation of Shema in Shaḥarit, the paragraph Emet Veyatziv, was said in the ancient custom of Eretz Israel even after the recitation of Shema in Aravit. The wording of this paragraph has undergone many changes over the years. To the short and stable text that is found in the ancient Eretz Israel Siddur many additions and changes were added that doubled its length and created the complex and rich structure in the Babylonian text and in the contemporary Siddur. The article analyzes 155 manuscripts from the Cairo Genizah in which different versions of the paragraph are formulated and divided into separate textual branches with clear characteristics. In light of this analysis, it presents the text of the ancient formula of Eretz Israel, traces the processes that the wording of the blessing in Babylon underwent, and points out the connection between the structural changes. From this point of view, strange phenomena in the formula of the blessing become clear, including the division of a paragraph into different sections in the modern Siddur and the syntactic and programmatic difficulties that are in it.
