Abstract

The author has undertaken here a reediting of five columns of liturgical texts from the Judean desert: 4Q434 1 i (Barki napshi), 4Q292 2 (Work Containing Prayers B), and XḤev/Se 6 i-iii (Eschatological Hymn). He suggests several new readings, restorations, and interpretations. For example, he contends that the text from Naḥal Ḥever (dated c. 100 CE) is an unknown Jewish benediction recited on the occasion of seeing the Temple; it concludes with a reference to God's command to build a temple for him.
