Abstract

The hassidic conduct literature is one of the various literary expressions of the hassidic movement, all of which fall into the category of ethical (mussar) literature, which was of secondary importance with respect to legal (halachic) literature. Conduct literature occupies a special place in the general body of ethical literature since it touches on the legal literature by means of the customs that were stated and publicized in imperative language in it.
