Abstract
After a brief description of Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook as a thinker of his time, the article discusses the relationship between Rabbi Kook and Hillel Zeitlin. It further elucidates the relationship between Joseph Haim Brenner and Zeitlin and shows, more specifically, how Zeitlin perceived Brenner as a holy man in search for the Absolute. The latter part of the article focuses on the relationship between Brenner and Rabbi Kook, according to various testimonies, stories and criticisms. Rabbi Kook was influenced by many Hebrew authors, but particularly Zeitlin's view on Brenner had a profound impact on him. The article sheds light on several aspects of Rabbi Kook's life and work.
