Abstract
During salvage archaeological excavations at the city of Lod (Arabic: al-Ludd; Greco-Latin: Lydda, Diospolis), located some 15 km southeast of Tel Aviv (Avissar 1996; 1998 a; b; 1999, Pls. 2–4; Haddad and Avissar 2003; Yannai 2008; Kaplan 1993), a British Mandate era metal regimental bonnet badge was uncovered. The insignia, albeit rusty and covered with a green patina, was found in a satisfactory state of preservation in topsoil, unfortunately outside of a stratified archaeological context (Fig.
