Abstract
The stable silylene, N,N′-di-t-butyl-1,3-diaza-2-sila-2-ylidene, is reduced by Na/K or C8K first to a disilanyl dianion and then to a silyl dianion. Both of these species can be derivatized by reaction with hydroxy compounds or with chlorotrimethylsilane.
