Abstract

Explicit expressions are obtained for a local potential approximately equivalent to the optical non-local potential of Perey and Buck for elastic neutron scattering. Expressions are also obtained for the parameters of the local potential in terms of those of the non-local potential. On the basis of these expressions, we examine the dependence of the local potential parameters on neutron energy, mass of the target nucleus and the parameter of non-locality.
