Abstract
The compound Ho12Fe32O2 is paramagnetic at room temperature, belongs to space group 1m3m and has one formula unit per unit cell. It undergoes a transition to ferrimagnetism at about 233 K. A neutron diffraction study of a polycrystalline sample of this compound was performed. The following parameters were determined and are reported: lattice constant, site parameters, transition temperature, magnetic configuration, magnetic moments of the Ho ion, Fe ion and conduction electrons. Some of these properties are also reported for the iso-structural Dy12Fe32O 2.
