Abstract

In this study we use a reactive ion-pair approach in order to derive approximate limiting laws for ionic activities of strong electrolytes. For point charges we get a general activity law that yields the Debye-Hückel limiting law (ln γ±=-αc1/2 ) at infinite dilution and the quasi lattice cubic-root law (ln γ±=-βc1/3) in the high concentration limit.
