Abstract

A new apparatus, based on the isoteniscope, was developed for measuring vapor-liquid equilibrium under isothermal conditions. In order to evaluate its performance, the following mixtures were tested: acetone-chloroform at 25°C and 35.17°C, ethanol-benzene at 45°C, and acetone-chloroform-methanol at 50°C. The results are in excellent agreement with literature data. The advantages of the present apparatus are simplicity of construction, ease of operation, minimal consumption of chemicals, relatively quick in reaching equilibrium, the degassing process is carried out simultaneously with preparation of the samples, and the apparatus is suitable for determination of the vapor composition.
