We are much indebted to Dr. T.J. Cohn of the Museum of Zoology, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, USA, for a thorough criticism of the manuscript that greatly improved the paper, though we did not adopt all of his comments and suggestions. This study was supported in part by a grant from the Fauna Palaestina Committee of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities.

N2 - A new genus of bushcricket, Hermoniana n. gen., is erected for a new tettigoniid species. The only species of this genus, H. blondheimae n. sp., was collected at 2000 m altitude on Mt. Hermon, Israel. Platycleis (Incertana) erecta (Uvarov), described from central Israel, is synonymous with Platycleis (Decorana) buxtoni (Uvarov) found throughout Israel and Lebanon. The specimens of P. (D.) buxtoni found at higher elevations of Mt. Hermon are characterized as a distinct high-altitude population. Scotodrymadusa annulicornis crenulata (Uvarov) is elevated to S. crenulata stat. nov. and the female is described for the first time. S. palaestina (Uvarov) is synonymous with S. philbyi (Uvarov).
