Abstract

The authors report on a new apnea monitor that has several adjustable connectors. These versatile connectors enable the same instrument to be used in many different clinical situations, including the monitoring of patients breathing spontaneously (usually with an endotracheal tube) and those connected to a ventilator. The monitor can also be used with a specially designed mattress for long-term surveillance of free-breathing babies.
