This behavior is most clearly demonstrated throughout the Zr(Al B. )~ (B = Fe, Co) series \[1,2\] . Various aspects of our concluslons XX--XL were confirmed by the results of other authors : the hydrogen decomposition pressures in LaAlxNi5_ x \[3\]a nd in Supported by a grant from the National Council for Research and Development, Israel, and the KFA, J~lich, Germany.

N2 - The effect of Al on the hydrogen sorption properties of the Ti(AlxB1-x)2 B = Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, 0 < x < 0.4, is investigated at room and liquid nitrogen temperature. The results confirm our previous conclusions namely that partial substitution of the 3d elements by Al increases the stability of the hydride but at the same time it increases the activation energy of the hydriding process.
