Abstract
A novel method for the transmutation of 85Kr is presented. The isotope 85Kr is one of the important long-lived fission products. This method can be utilized in part for nuclear waste disposal of long-lived fission products. The method is based on transmutating 85Kr with a 10.756 year half-life into 85mKr with a half-life of 4.48 h. The transmutation is obtained with X-ray radiation.
