Abstract
We consider the problem of subsurface imaging using beams. The method utilizes the ultra-wide-band phase space beam summation method. Unlike the conventional beam approach, here we use the beams for stacking over all sources and receivers. We use the beams in order to transform the imaging problem into the beam domain. In the beam domain, the representation is a priori localized in both the data and the beam propagators. The formulation consists two phases. First, is the pre-processing step in which we filter out the beams with negligible amplitude. Next, in the imaging step, given an imaging point, only beams which pass near this point are taken into consideration. This representation leads to a priori sparse representation of the imaging problem which may focus only on the relevant data, keeping in the summation of only the beams corresponding to the image point.
