A Reappraisal of Three Philological Comparisons between Biblical Hebrew and the Hebrew of Ben Sira

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

Major dictionaries of Biblical Hebrew use the book of Ben Sira as supporting evidence for their interpretations of the two verbs מסתולל (Exod 9:17) and תרצדון (Ps 68:17), and of the form לשכנו (Deut 12:5). In this paper I shall reexamine the evidence cited from Ben Sira, in order to determine whether or not it does indeed support the interpretations offered for those biblical words.
