Abstract

Controlled release systems are widely used in numerous applications. Natural polymers, such as plant polysaccharides, have been used to construct carriers of bioactive substances and deliver them in a designed manner. Polysaccharides, approaches and fabrication techniques used in controlled release systems for food preservation, food quality improvement, food packaging and fertilizer management are reviewed.
