Abstract
A new prescription for the incorporation of self-consistent field level densities in a statistical analysis of nuclear reactions is suggested. This unified approach to nuclear structure of hot nuclei and nuclear reactions is tested in a Hauser-Feshbach analysis of the 12C(10B, p)21Ne reaction resulting in a remarkable agreement with experiment.
