Abstract
An opposite effect which include the domination of abnormal lower frequency locking was analyzed for modeling the cardiac sinus node (SN). A heterogeneous reaction-diffusion medium consisting of two adjoining uniform regions, purely oscillatory and bistable, was used for the analysis. It was observed that the frequency of the waves was nearly same as that of the natural oscillations in the bistable regions. The results show that a slight decrease in the parameter can lead to a significant change of the medium dynamics.
