Abstract
The issue of abused children of Holocaust survivors is something not spoken about for fear of hurting first generation survivors. We are not able to estimate the number of abused children but it seems there exists a picture of maltreatment by Holocaust survivors. The children of Holocaust survivors who are abused or maltreated are filled with understanding, forgiveness and pity for their parents about what they endured at the hands of the Nazis, thus blocking the natural feelings of anger and hostility. This situation impedes their ability to interact intimately with their family members.
