Acceptor bound magnetic polaron in cubic semimagnetic semiconductor

Abstract

Variational calculation is presented of the free energy of the hole bound on Coulomb acceptor center in semimagnetic semiconductor with the top of valence band having the symmetry Γ8. The numerical computations have been performed for Cd1-xMnxTe with x = 0.02 and x = 0.05. It is shown that at low temperatures the hole on the acceptor is in the state of tightly bound magnetic polaron. On the contrary, in Hg1-xMnxTe (x = 0.12) the interaction with manganese ions slightly changes of the binding energy.
