Abstract

The basic equations describing the stress-strain state in an accreting gravitating sphere of viscoelastic aging material, with finite deformation are derived. The problems of accretion of solid and hollow spheres of incompressible material are solved for the case of centrally symmetrical deformation. The stability conditions for a gravitating sphere of compressible and incompressible material are formulated. The definition of the stability of a viscoelastic solid on an infinite time interval corresponds to the classical definition of Lyapunov stability of a dynamic system.
