Acoustoelectric current and pumping in a ballistic quantum point contact

Abstract

The acoustoelectric current in a ballistic quantum point contact is studied using a quantum approach. The acoustoelectric current is found to be of the `pumping' type and is not related to drag, which is the momentum transfer from the surface acoustic wave to the electron gas.
