Abstract
Prior to the antibiotic era, clinical and pathological evidence of nephritis following pneumococcal infection was frequent. Streptococcal pneumonia, however, has received little attention in recent years as a causative factor in immunologic renal disease. Recent reports present substantial evidence for its role in inducing immune glomerulonephritis. This report describes a young man with pneumococcal pneumonia in whom acute glomerulonephritis developed.
