Abstract

Benign fibrotic obstruction of the ureters in a patient with prostatic carcinoma, as in the case described here, is quite rare. However, when a patient with localized disease, or even with metastatic disease, presents with renal insufficiency, it is important not to ascribe renal failure solely to the primary disease. All diagnostic possibilities, including benign uropathy, should first be ruled out.
