Abstract
The mammalian fauna of the Negev Desert is relatively well known, and detailed maps of distribution with record points have been published for many species (Mendelssohn and Yom-Tov, 1987; Shalmon, 1993). Nevertheless, during extensive live-and pitfalltrapping in 1992-1996 at Makhtesh Ramon (an erosion cirque of about 200 km2 area situated at the southern boundary of the Negev highlands; 30 35'N, 35 45'E) and adjacent areas, we gained new data on the distribution of two small mammal species
