Abstract
Adriamycin inhibits the Mg2+-induced B to Z conformational transition of poly(dGm5dC)·poly(dGm5dC) and reduces the degree of cooperativity of the transition. Additionally, adriamycin alone converts the Z-form to the B-form in a cooperative manner. These results indicate that adriamycin binds preferentially to the B-form, which could be relevant to its mode of cytotoxic action.
