Abstract
Aliya as a Challenge is an educational and research oriented workshop designed to promote the sociocultural integration of new immigrant students from the former Soviet Union. Through the use of didactic materials, simulations and other class exercises an attempt was made to change veteran stereotypes, as well as to promote positive interaction between former Soviet and veteran Israeli students. Measures of change indicated that following workshop participation both groups displayed more positive attitudes and had more social contacts with members of the other group. Suggestions for implementation of this project in the community at large are offered.
