Abstract

The present letter introduces microstructural observations performed on a thixoformed AZ91 Aluminium alloy after heat treatment. The authors herein reported the existence of "quasi-crystal" precipitates, with an (Al,Mg)86Mn14 composition, and of Icosahedral cubic τ-phase particles (i.e. Mg32(Al,Zn)49).
