Abstract

The alpine desert is located in high, mountainous arid areas globally, and its degradation is caused by climate warming and human activities. This chapter describes (1) the risks, distribution, and impact of further desertification on the alpine desert grassland; (2) the driving forces of desertification and the roles of climate change and overgrazing; (3) the future trend of alpine desert degradation; and (4) restoring and maintaining alpine desert grassland.
