Abstract

As the largest grassland type, alpine meadows are important grassland-livestock husbandry bases and resource; however, they have been seriously degraded over the years. In this chapter, results from recent research on the alpine meadow describe the (1) level of degradation, area, distribution, and influence; (2) degradation change in the past 50 years and predicted trend till 2060; and (3) causes and driving forces of degradation.
