Abstract

Arthritis is the most prevalent cause of low back pain, especially in persons over the age of 50. The low back has five sets of facet joints, one on each side of each spinal bone. Low back facet joints, like any other joint in the body, can be damaged or inflamed. The cervical vertebrae in the neck are affected by neck pain. The neck is frequently left unprotected and vulnerable to injury due to its location and range of motion. Osteoarthritis is a joint degenerative disorder with predominant symptoms of back and neck pain; these pains can be treated with rehabilitation therapy. Rehabilitation therapy is a type of care that can assist people in regaining, maintaining, or improving daily living abilities. These abilities could be of the physical, mental, or cognitive variety (thinking and learning). This paper describes that the rehabilitation chair for pain management, which includes: a seat arranged for a user's sitting; armrests arranged to allow the user to rest arms; a back support arranged to provide support to a user's back; a vibrating motor or electrical stimulator arranged on a predetermined position on the seat and adapted to deliver vibrations/electrical pulses; and a user interface adapted to allow a user to select a level. This research paper discusses the studies and surveys that have been conducted in relation to the design of a Rehabilitation chair and to get output of our prototype for the management of osteoarthritis pain as well as acute and chronic back and neck pain.
