Abstract

In this paper, an annular shape microstrip feeding technique is proposed to excite a cylindrical and a half-split cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (DRA). The 10 dB impedance bandwidth offered by cylindrical and half-split cylindrical DRA are 62.90% and 66.17% respectively at their center frequencies. The operating frequency ranges for cylindrical and half-split cylindrical dielectric resonator are 3.46 GHz - 6.64 GHz and 3.58 GHz - 7.12 GHz respectively. The radiation patterns are broadside and consistent throughout the operating bandwidth. The average gain of the cylindrical and half-split antennas is 3.82 dB and 3.42 dB respectively.
