Application of thermal analysis methods to nucleation and growth transformation kinetics

Abstract

The applicability of popular thermal analysis methods like the one proposed by Ozawa and Kissinger, or the one derived from the Avrami kinetic formalism, to non-isothermal nucleation and growth transformation kinetics, is reassessed. Restrictions and limitations of both techniques are reevaluated, in order to clarify when and under which transformation conditions is each method justified.
