Abstract

The high Z actinides with odd-Z and 2Z-N = 43 have several common nuclear properties. Beside 248Bk, for which the data is not available, all the isotopes with 2Z-N = 43 have a very high thermal fission cross-section. Based on the common nuclear properties of isotopes and isomers with the same 2Z-N value, we predict that both 248gBk and 248m7Bk are fissionable isotopes with thermal fission cross-sections greater than 1000b.
