Abstract

The aim of this study was to characterise the corrosion phenomena occurring in the marine and fluvial, fixed and mobile infrastructure, including ships and ports and shipyard installations. Carbon steel and naval aluminium are the main materials used in the construction of these vessels and installations. Immersion corrosion tests were carried out at the laboratory and at two seaports in Mexico and Israel. Corrosion was identified in pieces taken from a port steel retention wall.The corrosion processes are accelerated when the seaport and the river are polluted by waste effluents discharged by the region's industrial enterprises and municipal authorities.
