Abstract

A reversible reaction-diffusion process with initially separated reactants was considered and the asymptotic properties of the formed reaction front were investigated. The system was studied by assuming the diffusion constants DA and DB and revealed the crossover between the reversible and irreversible regimes. Mean-field equations were used to study the analytical solutions in the reversible regime. The reaction rate profile had two distinct maxima in the immobile region. The numerical analysis of mean-field kinetic equations supported the asymptotic considerations.
