Abstract
A case of fatal bilateral radiation pneumonitis is presented. Although only the mediastinum, thoracic vertebra, and lower half of the right lung were irradiated, the patient developed bilateral lung reaction and died with respiratory failure 2 wk after termination of the third course of treatment. It is suggested that hilar lymphatic channel closure due to previous irradiation of mediastinum was the cause of the fulminant course of disease.
