Abstract

The breakage energy distribution of single particles by impact was investigated. The irregularly shaped particles of Dead Sea salt, crystalline sugar and spherical granules of Al2O3 were tested. In terms of our model the segment of particle that directly contacted with target will be conceded as hemispherical asperity. According to the developed model, the breakage probability distribution of particles can be calculated by use of Monte-Carlo-Method as superposition of the breakage probabilities of asperities. The results of experiments show a good agreement with the simulation.
