Abstract

In this paper we will investigate the stress-strain state in growing viscoelastic solids subject to aging, in the case of a solid/liquid phase transition of the first kind. A characteristic feature of build-up (or accretion) problems under phase-transition conditions is that elements of the growing solid are not added from without but rather originate from the liquid aggregate state. We will deal with problems of build-up of linear and nonliner incompressible viscoelastic solids for specified law of displacement of the phase boundary. We study the coupled build-up problem in which the law of displacement of the phase interface is not specified in advance, but is determined by the amount of thermal energy transferred to the body.
