Abstract
Gamma transitions and branching ratios are calculated for 18O excited levels using different sets of shell-model wave functions having deformed state admixtures reported by Federman-Talmi, by Benson-Irvine and by Federman. The neutron and proton effective charges are allowed to vary and the results are compared with recent experimental measurements on the decay of 18O levels. The results obtained using Benson-Irvine wave functions were found to give better agreement with experiment.
