CALCULATION OF ARC-BACK CURRENTS AND THE EFFECT OF RESISTANCE ON ARC-BACK CURRENTS IN AC/DC CONVERTERS.

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

The following subjects are considered: (1) a method for calculating arc-back currents in the converter installations, taking into consideration resistance on the alternating-current side and voltage drop in the tubes; (2) the limiting values of the parameters that correspond to continuous flow of arc-back currents; and (3) the amplitudes of the damage-causing arc-back current in the forward and reverse directions. Numerical results are included. The analysis is applicable to both industrial and experimental converter installations.
